More Than a Trip: How Uganda Changed Me

I’m not sure I will ever truly be able to put into words the impact of this experience. I am inclined to believe that the Ugandan people have made a far greater impact on me than I could ever have on them.

They taught me that a smile is never wasted—it’s the easiest way to break down barriers, both language and cultural. They taught me that compassion comes in countless forms. And most importantly, they reminded me of the value of using the knowledge, skills, and opportunities God has given me to serve others.

While our team played only a small role in the lives of the people we met, it was our lives that were transformed the most. I carry their faces, their laughter, and their resilience in my heart—and I know I always will.
