Bringing Care Closer to Home: Ligia’s Experience at the Mobile Clinic

As a Clinical Technician in Honduras, Ligia Rodríguez had always understood the importance of providing care. But it wasn’t until she joined OneWorld Health’s Mobile Clinic program that she truly saw the difference it makes to bring healthcare directly to the people who need it most.
"I really loved the experience of treating patients who are so grateful just to receive care close to their homes," Ligia reflects.
Traveling to remote communities, Ligia was welcomed with warmth and kindness. But beneath the smiles, she witnessed the harsh realities families face every day—economic hardship, health barriers, and the lack of reliable transportation that often keeps them from reaching care in time.
"Seeing these challenges up close changed me," she says. "It made me more supportive, more empathetic, and even more motivated to make every patient feel loved—not just through treatment, but through dignity and quality care."
For Ligia, the experience reaffirmed something she now carries into every patient interaction: compassionate care is about more than medicine. It’s about showing up, listening, and making people feel seen, heard, and valued—no matter where they live.
