Mentoring Nurses, Restoring Hope: Prisca’s Story from Masindi-Kitara

At Masindi-Kitara Hospital in Uganda, Prisca Akullo does more than care for patients—she builds the next generation of caregivers.

As a Nursing Officer, Prisca’s role stretches beyond the bedside. She mentors and trains junior nurses, ensuring that compassionate, quality care continues long after each patient’s visit. But what fuels her most is stepping outside the hospital walls.

"What I love most is outreach," Prisca shares. "Being able to take services directly to communities in need—at no cost—always restores hope to patients’ lives."

For Prisca, nursing has never been just a job. It’s a calling to give back where the need is greatest.

Her career has grown alongside her passion. Through OneWorld Health, Prisca has received specialized training in emergency care, effective communication, neonatal care, and cardiopulmonary emergencies—skills that have empowered her to lead with excellence and compassion.

Whether she’s guiding a new nurse or holding the hand of a patient in a remote village, Prisca brings more than medical care. She brings dignity, hope, and a reminder that no one is forgotten.
