A Midnight Emergency, A Life Saved: Edward’s Story

In the middle of the night, Edward’s family made a critical decision.
The 49-year-old from Kisarabwire in Masindi Municipality was in severe pain, and the local clinic had given them a referral to Hoima Regional Hospital for emergency care. But Edward’s family chose to go a different route.
"We were very worried about him," they shared. "But we decided to bring him to Masindi Kitara instead of Hoima because we know it has the best services and care."
When Edward arrived at OneWorld Health’s Masindi Kitara Medical Center, the team moved quickly.
His family feared he had an intestinal obstruction, but after a careful evaluation, the doctor discovered something even more urgent—an incarcerated supra-umbilical hernia, a serious condition that required immediate surgery.
The team ran pre-surgical tests, explained the procedure to Edward and his family, and, after signing the consent forms, Edward was prepared and taken into the operating theatre.
The hernia repair was completed successfully, and Edward was transferred to the ward for post-operative care.
For three days, Edward remained under close observation, receiving antibiotics, pain management, and round-the-clock care.
His recovery was remarkable.
By the time he was discharged, Edward and his family were filled with relief and gratitude.
They thanked the entire team for their swift action and compassionate care.
"Masindi Kitara is our first choice from now on," they said, knowing that in their darkest hour, the team at OneWorld Health had not only treated Edward’s condition—they had saved his life.
