Saved by Compassion: How Kyenjojo Gave Sarah a Second Chance

When Sarah’s parents brought her in to Kyenjojo, she was unconscious and very sick. They had been referred to Kyenjojo by another clinic. “I came here because I know that you will work on my daughter,” said Sarah’s father. “You cannot compare the customer care here.”

The 16-year-old was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and severe malaria, and the medical team continued to run tests and started her on medication. They also had to improvise and remove fluid from her airway using a Penguin sucker. Afterwards, they put in a feeding tube and a catheter for fluid balance. After the lab results, she was started on an anti-malarial and continued other IV fluids.

Sarah gained consciousness the next day but could hardly speak. By the third day, she had fully recovered and was discharged on an oral treatment. Sarah’s parents were relieved and thanked the OneWorld Health facility for the good care they received and promised to refer everyone to Kyenjojo.
